The Jubilant Trust was initiated by the Thames Traditional Rowing Association (TTRA). TTRA was formed in 1995 to promote traditional fixed seat rowing and help publicise the annual Doggett's Coat and Badge Wager between Watermen Apprentices. It also aims to encourage use of the river Thames for sport and recreation.

Since Alan Coren played the role of King George III and HRH The Duke of York performed the naming ceremony, “Jubilant” has been a regular feature of the tidal Thames its events and celebrations.

Celebrations on the Thames to welcome new Royal Shallop

The Jubilant Trust is delighted and honoured to announce that The Duke of York is to name the new Royal Shallop "Jubilant" at Isleworth on Saturday 14 September. The Shallop, being built at Richmond, is a replica of the eighteenth century barge on display in Somerset House in central London.

Built by Mark Edwards at Richmond upon Thames for the Thames Traditional Rowing Association the "Jubilant" is for training disabled rowers to join able-bodied rowers in events, ceremonies and regattas on the Thames.

Rotarians wheel in a pledge to help Golden EventAn appeal for funds, to help build a Royal Barge for the Golden Jubilee Celebrations on the Thames in September, has been answered by the Friern Barnet & Whetstone Rotary Club.

The Thames Traditional Rowing Association (TTRA) in conjunction with Her Majesty the Queen's Barge Master and the Royal Watermen are planning to build an oar-powered Royal Barge in honour of Her Majesty in her Golden Jubilee Year.

At the express wish of The Queen this craft, otherwise known as the Royal Shallop, will be a multi-purpose vessel to be used in both ceremonial and recreational ways and adaptable to cater for both able-bodied and disabled rowers.
